Lotus and Water Lilies at Biltmore June 20, 2010

We visited Biltmore on Sunday to see the Lotus and Water Lilies. I didn’t realize that they open as early as 8:30am, and we got there at 9:15am, a perfect timing for the morning sunlight and the Water Lilies open early. They are absolutely beautiful.

Most varieties cannot have too much sun, but they will not bloom very much if they get too little sun.

Rwandan Water Lily Grows in London

The world’s smallest known water lily (Nymphaea thermarum), extinct in its native central African habitat, is thriving in a British botanical garden. How do water lilies reproduce?

Like the Dude said above.. they have flowers above the water.
Flowers get pollinated, seeds grow, seeds are distributed thru the water, fall to the bottom and grow the next generation… its a circle of life thing.
