are lilypadz re-useable breast pads any good?

experiences please. what do you reccommend

Hi! I used Lily Padz for the longest time! I liked them a lot but there are a few draw backs. One thing is that if you do not wash and dry them exactly as the directions say to they will lose their stickiness sooner than what is advertised. I liked to use them with certain shirts so that I did not have to worry about bulk of a disposable pad. That said if you are a heavy leaker then you can leak right through-I did at least 2x at the beginning of my nursing experience! The other thing is that they do change your shape just a little, especially if you are very full on top.My advice would be -buy two pairs at the start so you can always have a back up in case you don’t get one washed right away. If you wanted to go swimming these would be ideal. I did find out later that Lasinoh (sp?) brand disposable pads actually do not show and have practically no bulk to them and they absorb so if you choose to go the disposable route I would suggest those. Hope this helps you out a little!

never tried those ones. the boots washables are great. i use those at home. My favourites are the boots ultra slim disposables, i use them when i go out. they are GREAT. the are more leek proof than other brands I’ve tried and they don’t clump up. and they are discrete and individually wrapped. I’ve been feeding for 10 months and have tried loads.
    good luck.

  3. They’re not bad if you have "average" breast and not having much leakage. Personally I’m rather endowed and the stupid things didn’t stay on properly since I was having quite a bit of leakage.

I’ve tried a few different washable breast pads and have found them all pretty much the same. I think the trick is using a good nipple cream like LANSINOH as a barrier so they don’t stick to your nipples (when the milk dries on them).

If the leaking was really heavy I would get a face washer (at home only) and fold it into quarters and stuff that in my bra. It was heaps more absorbent for those first few weeks when I had enough milk coming out to feed the whole maternity ward!

  6. I think they’re useful in limited circumstances. I use them under sheer tops where bulkier pads would be too obvious and leakage would be unsightly.

They’re difficult to remove discreetly to nurse in public, though, and I worry about yeast issues if I wear them too long. But for short times away from baby when I’m in business attire, they’re just the thing.
